Antivirus protection

Comodo Antivirus for Mac offers automatical updates for the most up-to-date virus protection. The application provides always-on real-time protection and a constantly updated database of known viruses and zero-day malware.

In order to test the software, we installed a number of malicious icons and infected software on our test device. However, after the full scan, the application detected only half of the infected files. The application also provides users with in-depth reports on viral activity.

In addition, we also checked the test results of independent testing labs, such as AV-TEST.[4] According to this German-based independent testing lab, Comodo Antivirus for Mac only detected an unacceptable 38.1 percent.

Comodo ANtivirus for Mac Events

The basic look of Comodo Internet Security is very clear. All the main features are accessible from the main interface window. The subsections are informative and include a lot of more at-a-glance data. Comodo provides users all options and information in a well-organized way. The interface is bright and modern-looking and also includes a drag-and-drop area to scan files and folders for viruses. What we did not like, Comodo requires you to install unwanted software and change your default browser’s search engine.

Feature Score
Antivirus protection Poor
Security and Privacy features Basic set of free security features
Scanning performance Informative system scans with a mediocre system hit
System-performance hit Mediocre
User interface Simple and user-friendly

The final verdict

Comodo Antivirus for Mac is a free, easy and lightweight security program for Macs. It provides a decent set of free security features and a user-friendly interface. However, it has poor antivirus protection rates so we recommend you to run another Mac security package along with Comodo.
