Test results

Antivirus protection

Webroot SecureAnywhere applies same malware detection techniques to all its Windows products, however, the detection system differs from most of the other antivirus software. It does not combine malware signature-detection engine, instead it works on metadata and behavior patterns. Anything suspicious is sent to the company’s cloud-based servers for further analysis.

The package also protects users while browsing the web and supports all major browsers including Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox Safari, and Opera. The antivirus package scours 95% of the Internet three times a day – billions of websites, files, and applications to check if they are safe.

There are no independent antivirus lab results because the software simply does not participate in them. However, according to our test results, the Internet security package provides excellent antivirus protection.

Features

Webroot SecureAnywhere Internet Security Plus provides users with a very decent set of security and privacy features, including identity-theft protection features that protect your usernames, account numbers, and other sensitive and personal data against keyloggers, spyware, and other threats. Webroot’s Password Manager encrypts all usernames, passwords, credit card credentials. The package also includes webcam protection which safeguards against cyber threats such as trojan hijacking your webcam. Webroot also provides users with a full-featured protection for mobile devices, quick scans, and secure browsing with real-time anti-phishing. However, it lacks some features other premium security suites offer, such as parental controls, backup software or a VPN service.

System-performance impact and scans

Webroot SecureAnywhere Internet Security is very light on system resources. In fact, the software is one of the smallest and lightest antivirus applications in the market and does not slow down a computer.

The interface reveals the security status of the protected device. If it is green, then means it is protected and safe, while the red color means that there are threats detected.
