Scanning with McAfee LiveSafe
After the successful installation and the database update of McAfee, you can start your first computer scan and enable the security features. The first screen you will see is the welcome page and here you will be able to create your McAfee LiveSafe account, update the software, enable the firewall function and perform a virus scan. We recommend to update the program and perform the first computer scan. This is a powerful antivirus software and the first scan will take some time.
There are a few types of scans (quick, full, and custom), so choose the one that suits your needs the most.
After the full PC scan is completed, you will see the report of the results and the list of the detected malware. If the system finds viruses, you can delete them or send them to quarantine. Mark the checkboxes of the unwanted files and remove them.
Real-time scanning – enable or disable real-time scanning which protects your computer while you browse the Internet.
Firewall – this is a network security system that monitors and controls the incoming and outgoing network traffic based on previously determined security rules. A firewall basically establishes a barrier between a secure internal network and another outside network, for example, the Internet, that is assumed not to be secure. You can either enable or disable this function.
Automatic updates – enables or disables automatic virus database and software updates from the developer’s server.
Scheduled scans – this function lets you set the schedule of the time when you want to perform a computer scan.
PC Security – in this section you will find the buttons “Run a scan”, “Application updates”, “Updates”, and “History”. These are the most important functions of the software.
Identity – a list of connected devices alongside with their operating systems, IP and MAC addresses, network and security statuses.
Privacy – removes cookies and trackers from your browsers.
Account – here you will find the information about the software licenses, expiration dates, privacy notes and other information about your McAfee LiveSafe account details.
Settings – at the top right corner there is a Gear icon. When you press it, you can see the list of all the application's functions in one place. All the functions are the same as we have mentioned before but simply put together in one place conveniently.
We hope that this short user manual will help you to remove viruses and other threats from your computer and protect it in the future.
