Antivirus protection

Once the application was installed on our test phone, we ran the scan and Malwarebytes detected most of the malicious apps and successfully removed them. In addition, the application scans all files and applications for potentially unwanted programs also known as PUPs, screen lockers, and adware. We were happy how Malwarebytes for Android performed and cleaned our test device.

However, Malwarebytes does not offer Web protection, it only scans websites for phishing using the Chrome browser.

Malwarebytes Antivirus and Anti-Malware for Android was not tested in the latest test by the independent testing lab AV-TEST. Thus, it is hard to compare our small test’s results to the bigger test and evaluate the antivirus protection. The application was tested in 2015 by AV-TEST, and it demonstrated lower than average scores. The detection of a representative set of malicious apps was only 90.7% while the industry average at the time was 99.3%.[4]
