This article will provide you an evaluation and review of main features of two premiums security suites ESET Internet Security Premium and Panda Global Protection. So before purchasing a premium security suite, make sure to check out this article and choose the right antivirus for you and your family!

ESET and PANDA

ESET Internet Security Premium

To start with ESET Internet Security Premium, the security suite is the most expensive tier from ESET. The antivirus suite was introduced only recently and replaced the earlier version, called ESET Smart Security. The company was established in 1992 and is known for its advanced quality security software. The Internet Security Premium starts at $80 a year for a single PC, if you want to protect more devices, the subscription for 10 devices costs $170 per year. However, the security suite does not include licenses for other operating systems and devices, such as Macs or Android phones and tablets. The company has over 110 million customers around the world.[1]

ESET Internet Security protection

Antivirus protection

For all its Windows products, ESET uses thee levels of protection, starting with malware detection engine that scans for known malware signatures. Then, it adds heuristic monitoring which checks for unknown malware threats and monitors software behavior. Finally, anything potentially malicious is sent to the company’s LiveGrid cloud lab for further analysis and examination.

ESET does not include browser extensions to block malicious sites, but it checks users’ browsing data and stops them from visiting the web’s seamier side.

According to AV-TEST lab that tested the software, ESET demonstrates nearly perfect results and detects about 99.7-99.9% malware samples.

Additional features

ESET Internet Security Premium has a very decent set of security and privacy features, including email attachment scans, game mode, anti-spam, anti-phishing, hardened browser, network scanner, parental controls, 2-way firewall, Anti-theft, webcam protection, virtual keyboard, password manager, file encryption and rescue disk. However, ESET lacks backup software or a VPN service that is usually included in premium-level security suites.

System-performance impact and scans

ESET Internet Security Premium hit the system by 18% while running in the background which is moderate, compared to other products in the market. The full system scan finished in about 32 minutes, and also had mediocre hit on a system.

User interface

ESET has a very bright, open and functional interface, which is easy to operate and also looks very modern.

The final verdict

ESET Internet Security Premium demonstrates midrange malware protection and is able to protect your home family. However, it lacks some features such as a VPN service or backup software, and it is pretty expensive if you want to protect more and multiple devices.

Features Score
Antivirus protection Good
Additional features The suite lacks some premium features that other competitors offer
System-performance impact Moderate
Scanning performance Average scans that have a medium impact on a system
User interface Bright and very functional user interface

Panda Global Protection 2018

Panda Global Protection is developed by a cybersecurity company based in Spain. Panda Security was founded in 1990 as antivirus software provider. Today the company has expanded and today provides users with advanced privacy, security and optimization products.[2]

Panda Global Protection starts at $70 for a single device, and $105 for three computers, and five $140. It also adds security applications for Android and Mac devices.

Panda Global protection

Antivirus protection

Panda Global Protection applies same malware protection techniques as other Panda products, that are quite similar than ESET’s. It starts with viral0signature matching and backed up by heuristic monitoring. All suspicious files and icons are sent to Panda’s cloud-based Collective Intelligence system for further examination.

According to AV-TEST that tested the security software, Panda demonstrates pretty good malware detection and removal rates that vary from 99.9% to 100%, however, it missed a few threats and also delivered some false positives.

What we did not like is that Panda tries to hijack and change user search browser and home page.

Additional Features

Panda Global Protection offers users many features, including 2-way firewall, web filter, virtual keyboard, Wi-Fi scanner, parental controls, rescue kit, ransomware immunizer, backup software, password manager, file encryption, file shredder, system optimizer and anti-theft features. However, it does not add a VPN service.

System-performance impact and scans

One of the main downsides of Panda Global Protection is its heavy system-performance hit. It slowed down the computer significantly while working in the background and during scans. In addition, the scans take long, it took about 1 hour and 45 minutes for a full initial scan.

User interface

Panda Global Protection has a very pleasant user interface. In addition, unlike other antivirus and security software, Panda's interface can be customized which is very convenient.

Panda protected PC

The final verdict

Panda Global Protection offers a reliable protection and has a very convenient customizable user interface. However, Panda’s scans are one of the slowest in the market and it has a heavy system-performance impact.

Feature Score
Antivirus protection Good
Additional features A decent set of security and privacy features
System-performance impact Heavy
Scanning performance Slow scans with a heavy impact on an operating system
User interface A very pleasant and customizable user interface

To summarize

ESET Internet Security and Panda Global Protection are both premium-level security packages. When it comes to antivirus protection, these both security suites provide similar malware detection rates. However, Reviewed by Pro would recommend users ESET Internet Security because it does not slow down your computer like Panda Global Protection does. Even though ESET Internet Security is relatively expensive and lacks some premium features, it would be a great choice for those who are looking for a reliable premium security suite.
