Test Results

Antivirus protection

DFNDR Security by PSafe antivirus protection receives a mixed feedback. According to the independent testing lab AV-TEST, DFNDR antivirus protection is a bit inconsistent. The application used to demonstrate lower than the market average detection scores in its earlier tests. However, the most recent results indicated a relatively great antivirus protection. According to AV-TEST, the detection rates are 99.7% of the real-time malware and 100% of widespread malware samples in the most recent tests.

The application also demonstrates a decent anti-malware protection while protecting users browsing online and successfully identified all malicious sites.

As it was mentioned before, DFNDR Security by PSafe offers a free and a premium version. The free version includes Security Scan, Anti-Hacking, Lock-screen Charge Monitor, Memory Booster, Quick Cleanup, and Applock. A VPN service is also available for free as a separate application. In addition, the application also includes Advanced Protection, CPU Cooler, Wi-Fi Checker, Internet Accelerator, Anti-Theft features, Call Blocker and DFNDR Assistant.

The premium version includes even more advanced features such as Personalized Notifications Preferences.  In addition, the premium version does not disturb users with ads.

System-performance impact

In order to test the system-performance impact, the benchmarking tool Geekbench 4 Android was used. While the application was working in the background, the smartphone’s performance scored about 0.4% lower than its baseline. During a scan, the scanning engine had a performance hit by approximately 7%. It is quite good results, in comparison with other antivirus applications.

Scanning performance

DFNDR Security has a relatively slow scanner and a full scan took more than a minute. The application enables users to schedule scans. However, users are able to schedule scans once every three days or once every week. The time of the scheduled scan cannot be controlled.

Customer support

DFNDR Security offers users an advanced customer support. Even though the application is free, the support section is easily accessible in the interface. However, it does not include interactive support via phone or live chat.

User interface

DFNDR Security has a pretty simple user interface which looks modern and offers many visuals. The main window does not include many annoying apps. However, other sections are full of add-ons and ads that can get a bit intrusive.
