One of the most popular antivirus programs, Avast, acquired one of its greatest purchases – AVG Technologies that cost $1.3 billion. This deal will provide Avast access to hundreds of millions of devices.
Vincent Steckler, the CEO at Avast, announced that this deal will allow Avast to access over 400 million of its customers’ devices which consume Avast or AVG software. Currently, Avast and AVG users own 250 million PCs and MACs and additionally 160 million mobiles.
According to V. Steckler, the entire purchasing process can take up to several months, but the company is already confident and positive about its near future, especially the malicious program detection efficiency. After the acquisition, the security provider will be able to collect more threat data for improvements in order to provide better protection on PCs, Macs, and mobiles. In addition to that, Avast will also have access to AVG’s Zen mobile technologies, including the protection of an entire group of devices using just one primary device. The acquisition will also improve services for Business consumers.
